This genuine brass finish figurine is an excellent conversation piece and teaching tool.
The Liahona compass was given to Lehi to direct his family through the "more fertile parts of the wilderness" to the Promised Land. "And it came to pass that as my father arose in the morning and went forth to the tent door, to his great astonishment he beheld upon the ground a round ball of curious workmanship; and it was of fine brass. And within the ball were two spindles; and the one pointed the way whither we should go into the wilderness." (1 Nephi 16:10) The Liahona only worked according to faith and diligence. When there was disobedience, the spindle stopped working. At times, writing would appear on the Liahona to "give us understanding concerning the ways of the Lord". Lehi passed it on to Nephi. The Book of Mormon records that it was passed down through Nephite Prophets. King Benjamin gave the Liahona to Mosiah. In the Doctrine and Covenants 17:1 we learn that by faith the Three Witnesses would also be able to see the Liahona.
This figurine is 4" in diameter. Brass ball, with Brass spindle, compass and writing that changes. Made of Die-cast metal with Genuine BRASS Finish. Ages 14 and up.
My great grandson wanted one of these so badly. We saw them at the Church History Building and the American Fork Deseret Book Store. When we came home I ordered one for his Birthday - Aug 1st. He keeps a check on what it says. Thank you for backorder of this Liahona. It is loved. Shawna Spencer
The quality of this product was above my expectations the weight in your hand feels substantial and it fills your whole hand the craftsmanship is of excellent quality and it has a couple of sayings when you turn at different angles that are mysterious how to read. It seems to have a working compass in it and then also another arm you can twist to any direction. It is a great bookshelf piece. I enjoy looking at it.
I bought the Liahona as a gift for a friend, he loved it. The order was even delivered 3 days faster than anticipated!
Great to show Primary children
I was very pleased with the quality and craftsmanship of this brass Liahona. I use it in teaching my Primary class, and I like it so much I keep it on display on the fireplace mantel.
Feels sturdy. If you look inside at moving arrow, you see Follow the prophet or Follow the Lord depending on the angle.
The quality is a bit less than I hoped, but is still worth the cost
