And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man. ~ Luke 2:52
The scriptures say very little about Jesus the boy, but we know that he grew in much the same way that all children do. By the time he was twelve, however, he had become advanced for his age, both spiritually and mentally. Still, there must have been treasured moments between Mary and her firstborn son in which teaching and learning took place on both sides. This depiction shows Mary taking time at the end of a busy day to pray and give thanks to a beloved Father in Heaven with their Son at her knees. The lamp casts a warm light on the evening scene and symbolizes the light of truth and example that emanates from the Savior. If we, like Mary, train up our children in the ways of the Lord, we can receive blessings and truth that will guide us and our children throughout their lives. ~Simon Dewey
