It feels substantial. The clip is steel; the fist is something else. It feels slightly magnetic, but I think that's the small Phillips screw that's holding it on.

The finish is matte, rather than chrome-like. It'll wow 'em at church Sunday.

I really liked this product because it makes a great missionary gift! I sent it to my brother in the Porto mission and he emailed me back saying he was wishing for tie pin because he only owned one. Although he can't where it on Sundays because of an odd portuguese thing.
