Over the years we have been invited by prophets and apostles to continually study the scriptures and apply them to our daily lives. In his October 2011 talk titled "The Power of Scripture", Elder Richard G. Scott describes the scriptures as being "like packets of light that illuminate our minds and give place to guidance and inspiration from on high. They can become the key to open the channel to communion with our Father in Heaven and His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ." While prayer is our way of talking to God, scripture is one of the many ways that God is able to talk to us in return. Through studying the scriptures regularly we are able to open ourselves up to guidance and comfort sent from our loving Father in Heaven.
